MedSkin Solutions Dr. Suwelack (MDS), a biological material-based medical device manufacturer, is at the forefront of regenerative medicine. MatriDerm^® Dermal Matrix

Soft tissue reconstruction and tissue contractures caused by burn sequels can leave keloids and hypertrophic scars, which can impact a patient’s physical appearance and body functionality. MatriDerm®, the company’s flagship branded technology, is a bovine-derived replacement matrix that combines a dermis layer with elastin sourced from a bovine nuchal ligament to downregulate myofibroblast cell formations. This innovative implant is crucial for maintaining the native dermis structure and improving clinical, cosmetic, and functional outcomes for patients.

MDS decellularizes its constituents through a proprietary manufacturing process, named the ‘Advanced CryoSafe^® Method,’ creating a dermal layer that mimics the human dermis by 98 percent.

Once MatriDerm^® becomes native to the human tissue, the body repopulates the implant while preserving the existing collagen scaffold. This prevents potential foreign body rejection, fluids and tissue encapsulation, inflammation, and other complications with a patient-friendly treatment modality.

From a surgical advantage standpoint, MatriDerm^® creates a new dermal layer that boosts regrowth with an innovative dermal substitute that the surgeon can cover with a split-thickness skin graft to achieve functional, clinical, and cosmetic results.

MDS’ key opinion leader, Professor Enrique Monclús Fuertes, a renowned Plastic Surgeon, and other Surgeons of his team were on the scene to provide the required assistance.

MatriDerm^® enabled them to perform a full dermo-epidermal reconstruction while maintaining Javier’s cosmetic, sexual, and physical functions. Javier received a life-changing surgery that allowed him to continue his parkour training.
