RFID tagging for traceability: Global RFID in healthcare market value is expected to reach $4.9 billion by 2023. RFID is already used for inventory management, which means that medical devices can be tracked as soon as they are manufactured. By doing so, information such as lifecycle, sterilization, and maintenance requirements can be monitored. A physician can also access important patient medical records with an RFID tag, preventing records from getting mixed up or incorrect treatments being administered.
Remote monitoring: With remote monitoring, patients and healthcare workers can monitor their health without unnecessary hospital visits or invasive tests. Data from remote devices can be viewed on a computer or mobile device, and healthy reading parameters can be set to trigger automated alerts when the patient becomes ill.
An example of a remote monitoring device is a glucose monitor, which has transformed the lives of diabetics worldwide. As a result, patients no longer need to perform prick tests throughout the day and can be immediately alerted if their glucose levels fall outside of healthy limits.
In comparison to manual checks, this technology allows for much faster intervention. In addition to giving people with conditions such as diabetes or heart problems more freedom, remote monitoring provides them with peace of mind by enabling preventative rather than reactive medical care.
Prototyping and 3D printing: Unlike many other medical wire manufacturers, some companies offer small-batch prototyping to assist OEMs in finding the best component for their devices without producing waste. Through the acquisition of Polyfil, some companies have expanded their prototyping capabilities to include 3D visualizations that can be injection molded and 3D printed.
