nterim Results from a Multicenter Study Demonstrate the Clinical Utility of Rapid Phenotypic Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing for BSI in Diverse Healthcare Settings and Patient Populations
FREMONT, CA: Accelerate Diagnostics, Inc. (NASDAQ: AXDX) presents three data sets from its Improving Outcomes and Antibiotic Stewardship (IOAS) Study at the 2021 European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID). The purpose of this ground-breaking study is to compare data from before and after the Accelerate Pheno system is implemented in several hospitals to determine the system's effect on treating patients with bloodstream infections.

The ePoster presentations are from real-world clinical trials involving the Accelerate Pheno system in various health systems. They include endpoints for microbiology test turnaround time, antimicrobial use, and a subgroup analysis of 30-day mortality. The data further demonstrate the clinical benefits of the Accelerate Pheno system, with significant improvements in multiple endpoints, including a statistically significant reduction in 30-day mortality in a subset of patients receiving ineffective empirical antibiotic treatment when the Accelerate Pheno arm (AXDX) is compared to the standard of care testing arm (SOC) (6.0 percent in AXDX vs 15.9 percent in SOC).
The following are excerpts from the Company's presentations, which are now available on the ECCMID 2021 website:
