Caretaker Medical adds sensors to its wireless patient monitoring platform to help patients during sedation process.
FREMONT, CA: Caretaker Medical, a producer of wireless caretaker finger-cuff patient monitoring platform for continuous non-invasive blood pressure (CNIBP) and vital signs, has announced wireless surveillance capacity End-Tidal Carbon Dioxide (ETCO2) sensor with CMI Health PC900B handheld capnograph and oximeter. The CNIBP and vital signs monitor wireless caretaker is FDA Cleared, CE-Mark certified and immediately accessible.

In a wireless handheld device with remote information display and reporting, the mixed Caretaker and ETCO2 solution enables clinicians to track critical aspects of patient respiratory status that were not earlier feasible. The solution demonstrates the capnograph waveform, numeric ETCO2, fractional inspired carbon dioxide (FiCO2), respiratory rate, and pulse oxymetry on the Caretaker app.
“By adding ETCO2 Caretaker can now fulfill even more needs of critical care and mid-acuity clinicians by providing best-in-class wireless monitoring parameters on our continuous NIBP platform, and we will continue to add more sensors and reporting capability for research and clinical use to support Emergency Medical Services and Hemodynamic monitoring this year,” said Tim McGough, Sr. VP Marketing & Sales, Caretaker Medical.
The Caretaker wireless remote monitoring platform is an innovative approach to remote patient monitoring and provides continuous non-invasive patient blood pressure including systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial pressure on a heartbeat-to-heartbeat basis along with pulse rate and respiratory rate, all from a low-pressure simple finger cuff. The attached wrist unit transmits data by low-energy Bluetooth to an Android device like the included tablet, which can then be connected to the internet by Wi-Fi or cellular network and enable cloud-based secure patient monitoring of streaming vital signs. The platform allows the addition of extra essential sign sensors like the included fingertip pulse oximeter, an optional temperature sensor, an ETCO2 device which is just announced or an ECG patch which will be available soon.
“A key market request has now been answered. Our emergency care providers and procedural sedation clinicians have asked for a way to safely monitor patients’ respiratory status, and the ETCO2 parameter is the best way to accomplish it. The caretaker is pleased to offer the first Bluetooth streaming wireless handheld ETCO2 device with our continuous NIBP patient monitoring platform,” said McGough.
