FREMONT, CA: There's a good chance we don't know what happens to biomedical waste once it leaves our hands once it's disposed of. The biomedical waste disposal team is responsible for safely and effectively removing this waste from the environment. Medical supplies must be disposed of properly because some waste can contain pathogens or diseases. Different disposal companies follow separate methods for disposing of biomedical waste.

The following are the different types of biomedical waste disposal practices:
Incineration: Incineration has the major advantages of being quick, easy, and simple. Microorganisms are safely and effectively removed from the waste. Emissions from the burning of hazardous materials, however, can be particularly dangerous. Incineration is preferred by some states for waste disposal companies, but materials must be reviewed and determined safe for combustion.
Autoclaving: Steam sterilization is used in autoclaving. In contrast to incineration, autoclaving simply introduces very hot steam for a determined amount of time. By the end of the process, microorganisms have been completely destroyed. Due to its low cost and lack of health risks, this process is particularly effective. Approximately 90 percent of biomedical waste is sanitized by autoclaving before being disposed of in landfills, despite some materials not being able to be autoclaved.
Microwaving: Waste is shredded, mixed with water, and then internally heated to kill microorganisms and other harmful elements. Shredding is one of the main benefits of this process; it reduces the volume of biomedical waste, and it is reportedly more energy efficient than incineration. Just like autoclaving, it can't be used for all biomedical wastes, but it can be used for 90 percent of them.
Chemicals: Chemical disinfection can be used to dispose of liquid biomedical waste. The killing of microorganisms and pathogens and chlorine is commonly used for this process. Solid wastes can also be disposed of chemically, but it is recommended that they should be grounded first to ensure maximum decontamination. Once decontaminated, liquid waste is disposed of in sewers.
Biomedical waste segregation: It plays a very important role in improving the management of biomedical waste. It is essential to reduce the volume of infectious waste that spreads diseases. The quantum of waste will go beyond management's control if no quick action is taken.
Biomedical waste management has several advantages, such as:

• Hospitals and surrounding areas smell unpleasant sometimes. Bad odors and unpleasant sights can be reduced with proper waste management.
