Rehabilitation, performance, and injury are the areas in which biomechanics are applied.
Injury: A biomechanical injury consists of broken bones, torn tendons ripped, and compromised organs due to a failure and damage of the bio systems. Using mechanics theory, researchers explore how the body responds to mechanical forces by injury biomechanics. There are also studies of accidents, evaluations of tissue properties, and designs of protective equipment in this category. For instance, in case of accidental bone damage, long metal plates outside bone and rods inside bone are attached by screws for support. This is injury biomechanics, which biomechanical engineers efficiently design for mending broken bones.
Performance: Like internal movements such as blood circulation, heart mechanics, and skeletal joint kinematics, living beings perform mechanical activities such as walking, sitting, standing, and carrying objects. Sports biomechanics is important in minimizing injuries and optimizing performance in sports movements. It helps athletes improve their performance and is very beneficial to them.
Rehabilitation: Recovering from disease and injury is referred to as rehabilitation. Rehabilitation biomechanics also includes implant and diagnostic device design and development as part of the health care industry. The purpose of this study is basically to clarify the effects of disability on human performance and to help understand rehabilitation therapies and their effectiveness.
