Materialise and Exactech's collaboration advances joint replacement surgery.

One of the leaders in medical 3D planning and printing solutions, Materialise, revealed their collaboration with Exactech a developer and producer of smart technologies for joint replacement surgery, to provide advanced treatment options for patients with severe shoulder defects. The shoulder replacement market is one of the fastest-growing orthopedics, accounting for 60 percent of orthopedic extremity procedures. To improve clinical outcomes, even in challenging cases, surgeons seek treatment options to increase patient satisfaction. Orthopedic surgeons can use personalized reverse shoulder implants from Materialise to treat patients with glenoid bone loss.
Materialises Clinical Engineers design Glenius implants based on each patient's unique anatomy with 3D data, simulation, and artificial intelligence. In the most challenging scenarios of the eroded glenoid, optimizing implant fixation and stability while maximizing bone preservation can result in more predictable clinical outcomes.
