Conavi and Minnetronix were honored by Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal for the development and production of the first dual-imaging device for interventional cardiology
SAINT PAUL, Minn., – Minnetronix Medical has been selected as the 2025 Minnesota Manufacturing Awards winner by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal in the Product Innovation of the Year category; Minnetronix earned the recognition for its role in developing and manufacturing Conavi Medical’s groundbreaking, next-generation Novasight Hybrid™ System. The product features simultaneous Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) imaging capabilities -- the first and only such device for interventional cardiologists to see inside a blood vessel from these two different perspectives at the same time.

Novasight enables physicians to properly size vessels, assess disease, identify in-stent failures, diagnose presence and location of calcium (measuring thickness and arc within the vessel), improve procedural outcomes, and enhance patient care. It has U.S. 510(k) FDA clearance and regulatory approval for clinical use from Health Canada and the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare, Japan. The next generation of NovaSight launches in early 2026.
The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal’s Manufacturer of the Year awards are presented annually and highlight manufacturers that significantly boost the region’s economy. The awards are a hallmark of excellence, celebrating companies that excel in financial performance, innovation, sustainability, workforce development, job creation, and community engagement. They recognize manufacturers that drive growth, inspire innovation, and foster forward-thinking practices.
“Being recognized in Minnesota for the product innovation of the year is significant, given the number of manufacturers in the state and the size of the medtech community here,” said Jeremy Maniak, CEO at Minnetronix Medical. “It is an honor to partner with Conavi to bring its vision for Novasight to commercialization. The dual perspectives inside the blood vessel and the clarity of the visual we were able to achieve will greatly aid cardiologists and enhance treatment of cardiovascular disease.”
The award is the second for Minnetronix Medical, which was named overall Manufacturer of the Year Award by the Business Journal in 2021. The company has also received three TEKNE Awards from the Minnesota Technology Association, celebrating its technological innovation and workforce excellence for medical technology, best medical device, and tech talent development.
Manufacturing is Minnesota’s second-largest employment sector, with up to $61 billion in revenue annually. There are more than 700 med device companies in the state – known as “Medical Alley” -- and 30,000 people work in device manufacturing, the second-largest talent pool in the sector in the U.S.
CEO of Toronto-based Conavi, Tom Looby, added: “There was no doubt in my mind that Minnesota was the market in which to find a true partner. Minnetronix has innovated and iterated many ‘firsts’ in med devices, particularly in the optical area. It is not surprising that our collaboration caught the eye of the judges in this competitive award program.”
