Pilatus now offers EpiShuttle integration in medevac PC-24s, collaborating with its development partner, Aerolite AG.
FREMONT, CA: The global COVID-19 epidemic has increased the demand for air transport solutions for infected patients. Infected passengers are transported in an isolation unit known as an EpiShuttle to prevent viral spread to the cockpit and cabin crew during the flight. The PC-24 is perfect for these missions because to its big cargo door and complete air ambulance equipment.

Isolation for medical reasons
During an Ebola epidemic in Africa in 2015, Norway's EpiGuard created a modular isolation device that is now also used for Covid-19 missions. To ensure safe patient handling, the EpiShuttle has a modular, reusable design and eight medical airlocks.
Aerolite as a development partner
Pilatus now offers EpiShuttle integration in medevac PC-24s in collaboration with its development partner, Aerolite AG. The EpiShuttle is coupled with an adapter to a universal transport cart, enabling ground transfers and cabin configuration. Loading is done with a one-of-a-kind loading device that automatically transports the EpiShuttle unit and patient into the cabin. It is subsequently attached directly to the seat rails using retention devices. The entirely flat cabin floor and transport trolley rollers allow the team to be pushed freely into the desired location.
Medical equipment installed on a cradle next to the EpiShuttle and supplied by the onboard power source ensures patient monitoring. Medical workers occupy cabin seats near the EpiShuttle, as with routine patient transport operations, and can attend to the patient at any moment.
