Drug containment leader offers COP and COC pre-fillable syringes (PFS), expanding its glass PFS portfolio and giving customers the broadest choice in PFS.
FREMONT, CA: “The addition of COP and COC pre-fillable syringes will uniquely position Stevanato Group to be able to offer both COC, COP, and glass options in the market, empowering customers to select the best-suited solution to fit their needs from multiple options,” says Mauro Stocchi, Chief Business Officer at Stevanato Group. Stevanato Group S.p.A., a global leader in drug containment and delivery solutions for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences industries, has formed a new partnership with Transcoject GmbH, a medical device, and pharmaceutical packaging solutions provider. Stevanato Group will be able to add cyclic olefin polymer (COP) and cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) PFS to its existing offering of value-added supply chain solutions for customers.

“This is a testament to Stevanato Group’s focus on meeting market needs through an integrated and comprehensive portfolio of drug delivery solutions,” adds Stocchi.
By combining Transcoject's technological know-how with Stevanato Group's skills and knowledge " in drug containment solutions, production, and market trends - Stevanato Group will be able to provide pre-fillable syringes in both glass and COP and COC polymers.
Pre-filled COP and COC syringes may be suitable for various applications, including sensitive biologics, mRNA vaccines, and hyaluronic acid-based medicines. The adaptability and customizability of the products make them perfect for addressing a variety of compliance standards, and they can be integrated effortlessly into existing fill and finish lines.
The technology is designed to provide a variety of format possibilities ranging from 0.5ml to 200ml, making it customizable to the needs of individual clients. Stevanato Group anticipates that the technology will be ready in 2025 with a verified Luer Lock PFS product. In the interim, Transcoject will support customers by delivering samples, and the companies plan to use their existing capacity to meet demand. In the coming years, it's anticipated that a staked-needle PFS version will be introduced.

Stevanato Group will introduce its innovative Nexa Flex COP and COC syringe solutions at the Pharmapack Europe conference in Paris, France, on February 1-2, 2023, at booth number F46.
