Oral medicine offers numerous advantages, including lower costs, easier dosage forms for large-scale manufacturing, and the capability to take advantage of improved features such as extended rule, extended releases, and smaller tablet sizes that make swallowing easier.
Nasal and pulmonary routes have also become increasingly important over the years as alternatives to parenteral routes of administration, especially for peptides and proteins taken orally.
