Medicare Advantage Plans provides Part A and Part B services while generally including some additional services such as hearing and vision aids; it grants coverage within Part C of Medicare in the United States. Beneficiaries can opt for a private insurance company for availing the advantages, some of the most popular types are Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) and Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO). However, choosing the right plan depending upon the requirements of the individual can be tedious at times, as the plans may alter due to various factors: cost, quality, coverage. Medicare evaluates all the health and prescription drug plans and rates them based on their quality and performance. A plan can get a maximum of five stars, and they do this evaluation every year such that the ratings may change from one year to another. KelseyCare Advantage got an overall five-star rating for quality of care and customer service, and it is the only plan in Texas to get a perfect rating. It provides prescription drug coverage (Rx (HMO)), worldwide emergency coverage, routine vision exams, and medical transportation with no extra premium. On the other hand, KelseyCare Advantage also provides additional protection against unexpected medical illness at an affordable cost.
Kaiser Permanente received a perfect score in both overall rating and summary rating for health/drug plan. They are one of the best in the region they serve; of the 14 plans that got a perfect rating for the year 2018-19, the firm boasts credit for 9 of them. Kaiser Permanente includes group coverage, where one can get coverage through his or her employer.
Tufts Associated Health Plans are the only ones to secure five out of five rating for both HMO and PPO. They serve more than 1.1 million customers with 100 plus hospitals. Tufts Associated HMO provides the health plan for both individuals and employers in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. One can pay a monthly premium to gain co-payments, deductibles, and a yearly out-of-pocket spending maximum.
Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) lets one choose from 12 plans in its Medicare Advantage. BCBS of Minnesota earned five stars in resolving health plan issues and four stars for chronic disease management performance.
Numerous plans earned five out of five rating in Medicare; the plan varies depending upon the area and the requirements. However, the Medicare Advantage Plan seekers can also focus on the robustness of network of the plan around them, as it may help in reducing travel time.
