Turning TECAR (CRET) Technology into a Measurable, Physiology-Driven Rehabilitation System

Interview with Mr. Simone Luca Binda, Co-founder and Director of Wintecare

Capacitive and resistive energy transfer (CRET) has traditionally relied on qualitative interpretation during treatment, with clinicians assessing effectiveness through heat sensation, patient feedback and gradual improvements in movement and recovery. The physiological interaction between transferred energy and tissue response, however, remained insufficiently visible and difficult to objectively measure.

For Wintecare, a Swiss medical technology company, that gap represented a central limitation of conventional TECAR rehabilitation. Therapists could observe the external effects of treatment, yet important clinical variables still depended heavily on perception and operator experience. How much energy was actually being absorbed by the tissue? How was it distributed throughout different biological structures? Which responses were primarily thermal, and which reflected deeper physiological stimulation?

The questions pushed Wintecare to re-examine TECAR therapy through a more measurable physiological framework. Working alongside European universities and laboratories, it began developing a system designed to bring greater visibility, control and objective treatment variables into energy-based rehabilitation.

The result was T~Advanced, a platform capable of monitoring energy transfer in real time. Four Approaches, One Control

Precision matters when a therapist can match energy delivery to the targeted tissue and the patient’s stage of recovery. T~Advanced is built around that logic, giving them four ways to guide energy in one measurable system.

Capacitive mode targets highly conductive soft tissues such as muscles, fascia, dermis and adipose tissue, where treatment raises temperature, supports fluid drainage and encourages a superficial vascular response.

Resistive mode reaches deeper, electrically resistant structures, including tendons, joints and bone-related overload conditions, where energy transfer supports perfusion, oxygen saturation, deep vasodilation and reparative processes.

Dosimetric mode adds precision for inflamed, fragile or early post-operative tissues. Rather than relying on time-based protocols or patient tolerance, the therapist defines how much energy to transfer, where to apply it and how long to maintain it.

Delivering energy through fixed plates, static mode frees the therapist’s hands while the patient performs active or assisted movements. For joint recovery, neuromuscular re-education, passive stimulation and combined manual or osteopathic techniques, it maintains a stable stimulus without interrupting therapeutic flow.

Treatment selection becomes more closely tied to clinical reasoning. Therapists choose based on the functional objective, biological phase and target-tissue electrical characteristics. Clinicians report more controlled management of pain, oedema and mobility progression during rehabilitation. These outcomes result from controlled, large-scale energy transfer, accelerating physiological responses while maintaining safety margins.

A well-known, middle-distance runner sustained an acute proximal hamstring tendon injury 10 days before a major indoor competition. Using high-frequency, energy-based therapy, progressive tendon loading and daily adjustment, T~Advanced controlled oedema, maintained neuromuscular activation and prevented further irritation. Follow-up imaging confirmed structural stability after maximal effort, and the athlete returned to world-class performance by setting an Indoor World Record in an 800-metre race.

A recent case involving a weightlifter with a severe forearm injury shows the value in practice. Surgery was unavoidable, but rehabilitation depended on known variables, controlled treatment and clear checkpoints. With measurable data guiding recovery, he returned to weightlifting within four and a half months.

The case reinforces Wintecare’s goal. T~Advanced does not replace diagnosis or assessment. It makes both more actionable. In acute-phase injuries, many centres waited five or six days before meaningful intervention. With T~Advanced, therapists can begin sooner because the system is sensitive across low-power ranges, stimulating a controlled biological response without overwhelming the tissue.


The same advantage appears in everyday practice. By transferring large amounts of energy without unwanted surface reactions, T~Advanced helps some clinicians achieve comparable results in nearly half the time.
